Liyah Katana, 20 year old singer from Toronto, Canada believes that her purpose is to love, learn, and connect with people. At the tender age of 5, it was evident that Liyah loved to sing. As she grew, she started to perform at musicals, graduations, talent shows, and other events. At 15, she became an integral piece to her church choir. “Music is how I express all the different types of emotions – sometimes music can heal, ” – says the 19 year old. The R&B, Neo-soul, singer found love for songwriting, and has never looked back; as she writes majority of her music. Thanks to her parents, Liyah grew up listening to some of the best in music such as Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Erykah Badu, and India Arie. R&B has been a part of her life since she started singing, and it is her goal to keep R&B alive and at the international level.
